International Law

At Gordon Arata Montgomery Barnett, we serve foreign and domestic clients operating in the complex global marketplace by providing counsel and developing legal solutions for transactional, regulatory and dispute resolution issues arising throughout the world.

We have successfully represented and defended manufacturers, importers, and producers/exporters of industrial and consumer products before U.S. Courts and foreign tribunals.  For example, we recently secured the dismissal of claims against several Chinese corporations in multi-district litigation in Louisiana federal court involving allegedly defective construction materials.  In doing so, the firm coordinated discovery and conducted motion practice on behalf of clients unfamiliar with the intricacies of the United States legal system.

Other representative matters include:

  • Advising an Australian exploration and production company in multiple international arbitrations concerning U.S. oil and gas law
  • Representing foreign companies establishing U.S. subsidiaries and acquiring Gulf of Mexico assets
  • Assisting foreign companies and their domestic subsidiaries in the operation and divestiture of U.S. oil and gas assets

Our extensive litigation and regulatory experience permit us to address foreign and domestic legal matters expeditiously. Moreover, our clients are served by our membership in The International Society of Primerus Law Firms.  We have strong relationships with heavily vetted, accomplished counsel in almost every jurisdiction in the United States and in more than 40 countries throughout Europe, Asia, Africa, the Middle East, Canada, and South and Central America, who assist us in finding and delivering the right solution for a given client problem at fair and reasonable cost.
