(Lafayette, LA )- Gordon Arata Montgomery Barnett is pleased to announce that Stephen L. Frederick has joined the firm.
Stephen L. Frederick is Of Counsel to our firm in the Lafayette office. His practice primarily centers on rendering oil and gas title opinions for drill site, division order, and mortgage purposes, but also includes the review and preparation of contracts involved in the operation of oil and gas properties as well as in their acquisition and divestiture.
Stephen received a B.A. degree in Political Science from the University of Southwestern Louisiana in 1969 and a J.D. degree from Louisiana State University Paul M. Hebert Law Center in 1972. After graduation, he clerked first for the Hon. John Covington in the 19th Judicial District Court of the Parish of East Baton Rouge and then for the Hon. Richard J. Putnam in the United States Court for the Western District of Louisiana. In the mid-to-late 1970’s, he worked in-house in the land department of The Superior Oil Company in its Lafayette office. In the ensuing years, Mr. Frederick has practiced both independently and with several well-known oil and gas firms in Lafayette and Houston.
He is admitted to practice before the state courts of Louisiana and the United States District Court for the Western District of Louisiana and is a member of the Louisiana Bar Association and the Lafayette Association of Petroleum Landmen.
